Project: Rebranding Seattle Tattoo Expo

OBJECTIVE

The Seattle Tattoo Expo is a worldwide renowned conference that brings in artists from all of the world for 2 days full of tattoo art and culture. This year was the 20th year of the event and was in need of a refresh. We knew we needed to design something that celebrated the rich history of the expo and felt familiar to the renowned artists and tattoo community who show up year after year. It was also important for us to design something that could complement any style of art, as each year the Seattle Tattoo Expo features a different artist and piece of art.

OUTCOME

We developed a new logo and brand identity that feels both modern and timeless, nodding to both block printing and simplified sailor tattoo stylings. We wanted a minimal wordmark and flexible design elements that allows each year’s theme and featured artist to shine through.
